2025 standard deduction amounts
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act raised the 2025 standard deduction to $15,750 (single or married filing separately), $31,500 (married filing jointly), and $23,625 (head of household). Taxpayers who are 65+ or blind add $1,600 each (married) or $2,000 each (unmarried) per condition.
Two separate benefitsThe age-65 add-on is part of your standard deduction. The new $6,000 senior deduction is a separate line item (Schedule 1-A) that stacks on top — this calculator shows both so you don't double-count.
Example. A single filer, 65+, with $60,000 MAGI: $15,750 base + $2,000 age add-on + $6,000 senior deduction = $23,750 in combined deductions.
How this calculator works
Base amounts are the OBBBA 2025 figures. The tool adds $1,600 (married) or $2,000 (unmarried) for each checked age/blindness condition, then adds the separate $6,000-per-person senior deduction (reduced 6% of MAGI over $75,000 / $150,000) when the 65+ box is checked. The age add-on and senior deduction are distinct and both apply.
